I have a few minor updates for everyone! It’s like Christmas in… September? Not really. Anyway, let’s start with the big one. Due to some career changes, I am no longer freelancing. What I really want is for my focus to be on some of my own projects and to develop further as a writer. That means I’m going down the day job/night job route of being an export manager by day and a writer by night. Hopefully that means everyone can expect more work from me in the future.
Speaking of writing and work, I wrote another book! Little Bird is a collection of poems and other writings I wrote over the course of 2016 and 2017. It’s an honest chronicle of the early stages of a serious relationship, along with all the lighthearted goofiness that comes with that. While my style has changed significantly since I wrote this, it’s work that is littered with inside jokes that only Pika will understand, and the memories of those make it timeless.
I’m also happy to announce that America is officially stuck with me, as I am now officially a permanent resident. It turns out that green cards are actually kind of green, not a normal green though, more of a Statue of Liberty kind of green. It’s nice to feel a little bit more permanent, at least until the possibility of citizenship opens up in a few years. I suppose this all means though that I should actually try and make an effort to put down some more roots, make some friends, and try some uniquely American things like saying ‘mm-hmm’ when someone says ‘thank you’.
So there you have it. Life continues much as it has over the last 27 years, slow and steady. I have family coming up to visit from Australia for a few weeks, and a possible trip in the near future too which could be nice. Maybe I’ll actually be able to write and publish something decent in between all the noise.
